Update Your Commercial Space: 3 Tips to Revitalize Your Ceiling
Posted Jun 14, 2021 by Dave Scaturro
It’s easy to forget, but just like walls and floors, ceilings can say a lot about a business. A bright and clean ceiling is welcoming for clients and is safer for workers, landlords and service personnel. We compiled a list of the top three tips to consider before revitalizing your ceiling.
1. Make safety & cleanliness your top priority
Safety is always our number one priority, and it should be yours as well. Ideally, your painting team should be well equipped with sturdy scaffolding, ladders and lifts. But remember that commercial and warehouse ceilings are often dirty and dark. Contaminants like oil residue, paper dust and solvents lingering in the air and ceiling from manufacturing can also hinder your team’s health.
2. Choose the right techniques
It’s important to talk to your contractor about your specific needs before undertaking any commercial painting work. At Alpine Painting & Sandblasting, we offer a comprehensive assessment of your space and will let you know what method is best to meet your goals. Here are some of the most common assessments and recommendations we offer to our clients who need to refresh their ceilings:
Lifts or Scaffolding for Height
For extremely high warehouses or even churches or cathedrals, a high setup is recommended. Contractors or painters will require lifts or scaffolding to reach the ceiling. This isn’t an easy process, but our team at Alpine will make sure that the paint job is done thoroughly and safely.
Dryfall Painting
If you have a high exposed ceiling, this might be the option for you. Dryfall is technically a quick dry flat paint that is sprayed onto surfaces. Overspray dries immediately into dust in the air and is easily swept up when it hits the floor.
Spray
This option is great for lower ceilings in an office or retail space where you want a smooth, professional finish done quickly.
3. Cleanup
Usually the same painting team will take care of the clean up. Be sure to start uncovering from the top. Lights, creanes, sprinkler heads should be uncovered before machinery and flooring to prevent small flecks of paint from falling below.
