The Best Time to Complete a Commercial Building Paint Job

We will get right to the point here: the best time to paint your commercial space is when your facility is vacant. For some businesses or organizations, it is quite easy to identify a time period when they will be closed. An example is educational institutions, such as schools or universities, as they typically have a considerable slowdown in the summer when their buildings are likely to be vacant. But sometimes identifying a time when your commercial space will be unoccupied becomes more challenging. Read on to get our expert advice on this subject.

Advantages of Painting a Vacant Space

First, let us explain why painting a vacant commercial space is ideal. When your facility is at low or zero occupancy, your space becomes much easier to navigate and the commercial painting crew is more likely to complete the job in less time and with minimal unintentional damage. This is especially true for interior commercial painting projects since these frequently require controlled conditions to achieve an optimal finish.

An empty building means it is much easier for the crew to move furniture around, change up the color scheme, and update high-traffic areas, such as hallways, lobbies, and common areas. One of the most challenging aspects of a commercial painting project is repainting the ceilings, especially during normal business hours. A vacant space means the crew can efficiently prep the space and paint it with no interruptions.

Finding the Right Time to Paint

If you run a business or organization that is active throughout the year, it’s best to identify when your off-peak season is and arrange for your staff to work remotely. One of the advantages of the recent pandemic is that many institutions learned to continue their operations seamlessly with just a skeleton staff in the office. If your business cannot function remotely, such as a restaurant or retail store, you may need to look into off-peak hours instead and concentrate your painting efforts around that time with an extra crew.

While closing down your business for any period of time is not desirable, you can implement some of the practices many others adopted during the recent pandemic shutdowns and offer curbside or delivery services. Lastly, certain holidays can be appropriate off-peak times for your business. We had a client come to us for a complicated painting job that selected the 4th of July weekend as the best time to shutdown their facility [include this link]. If you do choose to update your facility during a holiday, make sure to contact your professional commercial painting crew with enough notice to ensure they are available.

We love making sure our clients’ needs are met every step of the way which is why we will work with your schedule to make sure the job gets done right. Give Alpine a call for a free consultation today.
