Alpine Honored With Two Awards

In the May 2010 edition of Journal of Protective Coating & Lining Alpine Magazine (JPCL) Alpine was honored with the George Campbell Award and the William Johnson Award. In conjunction with the SSPC, the magazine recognized two of Alpine’s exceptional painting projects out of the eight featured pieces.

William Johnson Award

Alpine Painting was given the William Johnson award for their contributions to the Lucy the Elephant Project. The Save Lucy Committee credits Alpine for their work in preserving Lucy the Elephant which has been a National Historical Landmark since1975. The project required dirt, dust, and rust removal along with a wood rejuvenation process and epoxy coatings. In order to avoid overspray, all paint was applied by brush and roller and all gray surfaces received tow full finish coats of 100% acrylic, rust preventative, satin finish, elastomeric coating.

George Campbell Award

Alpine’s success on the Rockland County Pipelines project was recognized with the George Campbell Award. The project included abrasive blasting, insulation, and paint coatings at two separate locations that were each over 20 years old. The painting crew had to install water booms to protect the brook and extensive scaffolding work was needed. Additionally, Alpine treated the area for asbestos. Although the crew was faced with abnormal inclement weather, the project was completed 100 fewer than the required contract.
