Alpine Painting and Sandblasting was honored by The Society for Protective Coating (SSPC) with two Certificates of Achievement for the development of SSPC-PA 19 and SSPC-SP Cab-1, 2, and 3
Alpine Painting and Sandblasting was recently awarded the highly coveted Certificate of Achievement for two very technical areas of the painting and sandblasting business. The certificate for the development of SSPC-PA 19, which is a standard for visual evaluation of pinholes in a concrete or masonry coating, will assist specifiers, contractors and inspectors in determining the acceptability of a coating applied over concrete or masonry substrates. It establishes classification categories for the quantity of pinholes that appear in a defined area of applied coating and provides a procedure for defining the areas of applied coating that are subject to inspection.
The Certificate of Achievement for SSPC-SP Cab-1, 2, and 3 set the standard for abrasive blast cleaning of concrete and cementitious materials (Thorough, Intermediate and Brush). This standard assists owners and specifiers who develop project requirements that involve blast cleaning of concrete to a standard defined level of cleanliness. They provide contractors and inspectors with benchmarks and acceptance criteria for each of three specified levels of cleanliness. The three levels of cleanliness are Thorough Blast Cleaning (CAB 1), Intermediate Blast Cleaning (CAB 2), and Brush Blast Cleaning (CAB 3).
The two recognitions were presented to Sam Scaturro of Alpine Painting and Sandblasting by SSPC’s Technical Committee. To learn more about Sam and our other services please click here.
