Alpine is passionate about keeping our people safe, whether on the job or driving home from work. This is why Alpine Painting supports a strict policy of no cell phone use while driving a vehicle without a hands-free device. Utilizing a mobile device and driving has become one of the leading causes of car accidents. It is reported that 1 out of every 4 car accidents is cell phone related. In 2012, 30% of New Jersey road deaths were due to distracted drivers.
Governor Chris Christie recently signed a law that will increase cell phone related fines from $100 to approximately $400 starting July 1st 2014. With that being said, New Jersey Police Departments will be focusing on a distracted-driving crackdown. This movement is likely to yield more cell phone and texting tickets than any other campaign in the past.
Alpine Painting feels so strongly about safe driving that we want to extend a free hands-free device to any employee who doesn’t already own one. We hope that all of our employees make the pledge to stop texting, reading emails, and using their cell phone without a hands-free device.
4 Tips Alpine Painting Has to Prevent Cell Phone Related Accidents
1. Out of Sight, Out of Mind – Put your phone somewhere inaccessible.
2. Turn Off the Sound – This way you are not being notified with a ring or alert for a call or text.
3. Designate a Texter or Caller – Have someone else operate the phone for you.
4. Purchase a Hands-free Mobile Device – Learn more about the top 7 hands-free mobile devices.
