Time To “Spring” into Exterior Painting

Has the winter climate this year taken a toll on the exterior of your building? Don’t wait until it has an effect on your business. Nothing says more about your business than presentation. Whether you manage a retail store, hospital, restaurant, hotel, office or apartment building; the exterior of your structure makes a difference between people walking in and walking on by.

When’s the right time to paint? Both the surface and air temperature must be above 40 degrees for at least 2-3 hours for most paints to dry properly and 50 degrees for most primers. With average spring temperatures of 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit and relatively low humidity in New Jersey, spring is a great time to start painting.

With over 40 years of exterior painting experience, Alpine Painting knows the proper temperature that the air, paint and substrate must be as well as the suitable dew point and relative humidity. We use moisture meters to measure the amount of moisture in your building and will paint accordingly to avoid blistering and surface leaching. Some of the exterior work that our commercial painters provide includes elastomeric, waterproof coatings and sealant application to ensure water doesn’t penetrate into your building. We have competent masons who repair loose mortar joints and tuck or brick point your building shell. And we can powerwash the exterior of your property to remove staining, mold or mildew growth.

Waterproofing is important for any building with potential moisture contact. Common exterior surfaces such as concrete walls, floors, balconies and structural steel require different waterproofing materials that stand up to the elements and are flexible enough to contract and expand with varying temperatures. Mold and mildew from moisture buildup can create an unhealthy indoor environment for your customers and staff. Alpine knows the proper waterproofing sealant application procedures as well as the right elastomeric coatings to use to prevent moisture buildup.

Instead of completely replacing your masonry system, Alpine Painting can perform both repair and painting services to make your masonry look like new at a fraction of the price. We will not only improve your building’s aesthetics, but we will apply specialty coatings to increase its structural integrity for years to come. Some of our specialties include: concrete spalling, brick or tuck pointing, and reinforcement steel (rebar).
