On April, 27th of 2011 we received a call from the celebrated Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa. Since his first exhibition in 1980, Jaume has been showing his art off all around the world including numerous museums and galleries in Europe, USA and Japan. His sculptural work has gone through several stages in his career starting with recuperation materials such as iron, bronze and copper; transitioning to melting materials such as synthetic resin, glass, alabaster and plastic. Kinder Morgan is a pipeline transportation and energy storage company that owns or operates more than 37,000 miles of pipeline and 180 terminals in North America. The liquids terminal where the work was performed is located in Philadelphia, PA and contains approximately 80 tanks. Alpine Painting was contracted to provide a secondary containment system for the Ontario Field, a 150,000 sq. ft. area that contains the largest tanks in the terminal. The Ontario Field includes five storage tanks of varying diameters and is separated from the other fields by concrete walls and an earthen dike. In September of 2010, Alpine Painting was hired by the general contractor Spectraserv as a subcontractor for the rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment plant in Rockland County Sewer District No. 1. The scope of work included abrasive blasting and coating the interior and exterior covers of two digesters. Both digesters have a 90‘diameter and 20’ tall concrete walls. The first digester had a fixed roof to be blasted and coated on site. Spectraserv was responsible for fabricating a replacement floating roof for the second digester. Pepsico, the makers of Pepsi-Cola, Gatorade, Tropicana, Quaker Oats, and Frito Lay, currently have their world headquarters located in Purchase, NY. On the grounds is the 168 acre Donald M. Kendall sculpture garden, dedicated to the former Pepsico CEO. This sculpture garden contains 45 pieces of artwork and is meant to provide an atmosphere of stability, creativity and experimentation that would reflect Donald’s vision of the company. Within the garden is the Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro’s Triad, three 6’ diameter, 60’ tall cylindrical sculptures. In order to alleviate traffic and parking problems around Newark Liberty International Airport, the Port Authority opened the Newark Airport Rail Station in 2001. The Newark Airport Rail Station is a train station that is connected to both the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast train lines, providing train access to New Jersey and New York Residents.
